Ministry of Praise invites Pray-ers

1)     What is the Ministry of Praise?
It is a program to form a spiritual community among people in which we offer prayers to God.
2)     Why is it called Ministry of Praise, and not Prayer?
Praying is a way of praising God – When we pray, there are many types of petitions we can offer to God – but in doing so, we are offering praise to the Almighty for hearing our words.
3)     Do I have to say special prayers?
No, pray as you usually do – just include those on the prayer list you will receive each month. And if daily prayer isn't a part of your life right now, this might be a way to begin.
4)     Will this do a lot of good?
Yes, because more things are accomplished by prayer than this world dreams of! Tony Campolo says "prayer is a way that God can flow through us to that other person, even if that other person is not aware of our prayer." You will begin to realize that your spiritual life takes on new meaning for yourself and for others and your connection to Our Lord is changed.

The Ministry of Praise is organized to allow individuals (Prayers) to pray daily for people on the list they will receive monthly. It also offers a chance for our homebound members to become a part of this ministry,

As a Prayer Partner, you will deliver the list of prayers to a homebound person each month. If you have time, you might go over the list of prayer requests with the homebound person and spend some time chatting about their lives. If you feel comfortable doing so, you might also pray with them.

If you do not wish to become either a prayer or a prayer partner, you are always invited and encouraged to fill out the prayer request forms in the pews, narthex, or office when you have a special prayer request or you know of someone who you think would be helped by prayer – those of joy or sorrow!

An application for pray-ers is available at the link on this page.  If you have any other questions, contact the church office at 414-342-5252.

Prayers of the Church

Let us pray ...

God of life, send your Word to dwell in our hearts. Give the people of your church compassionate wisdom to carry your Word to those who long for hope and peace.  We ask your special blessing on Our Savior's Lutheran Church as she finds resources with which to serve people in need.  May your people share the bounty of your many blessings so that all may enjoy shelter, food, and meaningful work.

Send your Spirit to hover over the earth and the seas. Enrich the soil and purify the water that will make the seeds of the earth flourish.  Encourage the farmers and urban gardners as they tend and nurture.  Bring the harvest to all who are hungry.

Send your peace to reign over the nations. Orchestrate creative and fervent dialogue between nations that otherwise struggle to coexist.  Send your peace to the hearts of people so that each will contribute to a peaceful world.

Send your grace in the midst of despair. Scatter your goodness among those who suffer with pain and illness...

Send your wisdom to a confused world. Ignite the flame of learning and understanding in all people, that the gifts you give are able to develop and be used. Be with the Our Savior's Call Committee, the Church Council, the Ministry Team Leaders, the staff and all who strive to carry out the vision and mission of Christ's church in the city.

Send the promise of life to those who live in fear of death. Plant in us the hope of the saints who have gone before us in the name of Christ.

Into your hands, gracious God, we commend all for whom we pray, trusting in your mercy; through Jesus Christ, our Savior.
Amen.
