VBS will be offered for children ages 5-12 and will run Tuesday through Friday August 5-29, 8:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. We received a grant from Siebert Lutheran Foundation to support the work of youth leaders and this will be a significant part of the summer program. We have arranged for two weeks of training for youth ages 14-17 to be held in July with the co-directors and other trainers. Highlights of the training will include childcare skill building, team building, faith building, personal money management and conflict resolution work.
The children enrolled will enjoy the Bible stories featured in the selected curriculum, “Rain Forest Adventure”, arts and crafts, games, music, field trips, breakfast and lunch.
How can you help?
* Adult volunteers are needed to help. One day or every day, your presence will be welcome and appreciated. Chaperones for field trips, extra hands for arts and crafts, extra energy for music, stories and games, food and snack preparation...what are your gifts? See p. 7 to sign up.
* Youth workers are needed. Youth will be required to complete two weeks of training in July and be present for all of the program days August 5—29, Tuesday through Friday. Applications are available in the church office lobby, or call Penny in the church office.
* Donations of arts and crafts supplies are welcome. Watch for details in the July Messenger.
* Donations of healthy snacks, home-baked goodies and beverages are welcome.
* Sponsor a VBS participant. For $20, you can provide a scholarship for a VBS child. See Pastor Barbara or Penny Schwid for more information.
