In January 2002 Our Savior's became recognized by Lutherans Concerned (now Reconciling Works http://www.reconcilingworks.org/) as a Reconciling in Christ (RIC) Congregation, affirming a decision made nearly ten years earlier to be intentional about welcoming all gay, lesbian, transgender, and bisexual brothers and sisters.  The congregation's RIC ministry is growing, as is participation in the synod and national level RIC organizations.
Our Savior's is a member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America ELCA  There is a place for you in the ELCA. "We are the church that shares a living, daring confidence in God's grace. Liberated by our faith, we embrace you as a whole person — questions, complexities and all. Join us as we do God's work in Christ's name for the life of the world."  ELCA.org

Outreach Ministry is part of the mission of the Central City Churches, Inc. (CCC), an ecumenical organization of eight congregations in Milwaukee’s western downtown.
Our Mission
• To provide a welcoming place for our neighbors seeking direct service, referral, and advocacy of their basic needs.
• To receive our neighbors just as they are with compassion, a listening heart, spiritual healing, and hope.
• To share senses of community, respect, socialization, and acceptance.
• To provide our member churches a place to provide support, mission, and opportunities for ministry.
For more than 25 years the CCC has provided food and transportation for those in need. Located at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, the CCC Food Pantry is one of the longest established and most used community service pantries in the area. It has now evolved as a helping ministry focused on hospitality and service. Refreshments and lunch are offered Monday - Thursday October through April. A weekly Prayer Lunch is held at noon on Wednesdays. Telephone, FAX and a computer are provided for use in job search, making medical appointments, and connecting with family.

The Food Pantry has been operating for more than thirty years, serving individuals and families with emergency food once a month, as the need arises.  The contents of the pantry bag are determined by the number of people in the household.  Typically a pantry bag provides 2-3 days of meals: breakfast, lunch and dinner.  The current shortage of donated food and the increase in the price of purchased food challenges this pantry as well as others around Milwaukee in attempting to serve a growing need.  Hunger Task Force reports 7000 more people used food pantries in Milwaukee in March, 2008 than in February, 2008.  You can help by donating food, financial and volunteer support.  All non-perishable food items are welcome.  There is an ongoing need for canned fruits, vegetables and soups and a desire for low-salt, no-sugar and low-fat versions of those items.  We cannot accept perishable or outdated items, damaged or open containers, or home-canned food.
